Designing for Hot-Dip Galvanizing

Bio:

Jeff Scagnelli has 20 years of experience in the hot-dip galvanizing industry, working closely with fabricators, engineers, and project teams to support corrosion protection solutions for steel infrastructure and construction projects. He holds agraduate degree in Education from Wilmington University, which complements his passion for technical training and industry outreach.

Presentation Description:

This presentation provides a technical exploration of Hot-Dip Galvanizing (HDG), covering the initial chemical process, ASTM specifications, and complex design and fabrication requirements. Participants will gain practical insights into critical design and fabrication considerations, including steel chemistry, venting and drainage, and Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel (AESS)-to ensure optimal coating results. The seminar concludes with best practices for inspection, repair, and storage, alongside a specialized look at Duplex Systems, providing professionals with the tools to successfully specify and manage galvanized steel in any environment. Attendees will also receive handouts featuring essential galvanizing tips and practical information.
