Topic: Leveraging Design Opportunities & Benefits of Metal Building Systems
Summary: Although Metal Building Systems (MBS) have been around for over a hundred years, many of their benefits may be misunderstood. Metal Building Systems perform well, can be aesthetically pleasing, and endure. This introductory course will provide a basic understanding of steel building construction for commercial, community and industrial applications and introduce you to this revolutionary form of building design & construction that offers the architect new building solutions for a wide variety of building markets.
Presenter: Thomas Carney, PE has been involved in the Metal Building industry since his high school job running roll formers and fabrication machinery. As an engineer out of college Thomas worked as a consultant before being recruited back to the Metal Building Industry, where he engineered, estimated, and offered support to design professionals, providing value-engineered solutions for steel structures and building envelope solutions. Working on projects in the aviation, manufacturing, transportation, energy, government, commercial, and retail industries has kept Thomas busy and engaged, working around the country. When not working behind his computer, or out in front of the builders and designers, you can probably find Thomas renovating an old house or reclaiming materials from a dilapidated old barn.
