Topic: Structural Modeling: An Essential Skill for Engineers
Summary:
Learning how to properly model in structural software can save you both time and money. This presentation will cover the common pitfalls of structural modeling, and will include important tips to keep in mind when building models. Also covered will be rules of thumb for FEA plate modeling, as well as methods of integrating/coordinating a structural model between multiple software applications. Expect to learn the best practices to improve the speed and accuracy of your structural designs.

Presenter: Ms. Laura Cable - Technical Marketing Engineer, RISA
Laura is a technical marketing engineer at RISA. In this role, she works to ensure users get the most out of their RISA software including leading various trainings. Prior to joining RISA, she worked in various sectors of the AEC industry including as a structural design engineer for over 5 years. She designed a wide range of projects including construction equipment, bleachers, and multistory buildings. When she is not working, Laura enjoys being a volunteer docent through the Chicago Architecture Center giving Architectural Boat Tours along the Chicago River.
