Dr. Wassim Ghannoum is a Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction Management at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at McGill University in Canada, and PhD at the University of California, Berkeley.
His research interests include the life-span extension of concrete structures, evaluation and retrofit of existing infrastructure, new materials in concrete construction and repair, extreme loading on structures, and earthquake engineering.
Dr. Ghannoum is a member of ACI committees 318, 369, and the Technical Activities Committee, which oversees all technical publications at ACI. He is a member of ASCE committee 41 on Seismic Assessment and Retrofit of Existing Buildings, and board member of the Infrastructure Advancement Institute. Recent recognitions include the ACI Wason Medal for most Meritorious Paper (2021) and the AASHTO Sweet Sixteen Award (2021), awarded for his work on utilizing Digital Image Correlation technology for monitoring bridges during load testing.
Justice Edge, PE is a Partner at IES. He is a Professional Engineer licensed in the States of Texas, California, and Oklahoma. He is also a Qualified Inspector for the Texas Department of Insurance and an active member of the Structural Engineers Association of Texas, the Texas Society of Professional Engineers, and the Professional Engineers in Private Practice. Justice earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University in 1998 and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of New Mexico in 1994.
