Topic: Cold Formed Steel Truss Systems 101
Summary:
Cold-formed steel is the material of choice for a variety of commercial & residential construction projects. The presentation will discuss the characteristics and efficiencies of CFS products, the typical applications of CFS truss systems, and truss design & specification standards for your projects.
Objectives:
- Explain the value of using cold-formed steel truss systems with respect to design efficiencies and fabrication methods.
- Identify appropriate cold-formed steel framing standards and their relationship to the building code.
- Evaluate the characteristics and efficiencies inherent in using cold-formed steel truss systems.
- Review the required information for delegated design of roofing systems and proper specification of CFS trusses.
Presenter: Ryan Erickson, Technical Marketing Specialist, Alpine Steel
Ryan Erickson is a Technical Marketing Specialist at Alpine TrusSteel. Alpine is an industry leading provider of engineering software, structural components, and assembly equipment for the truss manufacturing industry, with over 50 years of experience and a vast footprint across residential and commercial construction. TrusSteel is Alpine's Cold-Formed Steel truss division, providing non-combustible, light-gauge, floor and roof framing solutions for commercial and residential construction. Ryan has a master's degree in data science from the University of Florida and currently works with Alpine in Orlando assisting building designers with specification assistance, design assistance, and framing plan optimization.
