SEAoT San Antonio // September 2023 Chapter Meeting

Dear Members:

The next meeting of the SEAoT San Antonio Chapter will be held on Tuesday, September 19th, 2023.  We will be hosting our meeting at Anne Marie's Catering & Events.

Topic: Tech Driven Construction - Elevating Quality and Safety

Although we as engineers do our best to design structural systems that will meet both the client’s performance expectations, and the public’s expectation for life safety, the quality of construction and due diligence of the contractor will ultimately control how well both these expectations are met. In this presentation, we will discuss ways that we can specify installation procedures and utilize available technology such as vacuum systems, concrete monitoring devices, and non-destructive testing to better control results on site.

Presenter: Kevin M. Van Hecke, PE, Hilti North America

Kevin drives business in Hilti's technical services division providing engineering guidance and support for Hilti structural products and design software in the Central Texas region (Austin, San Antonio, Waco). Previously, Kevin worked in forensic and diagnostic engineering for Walter P Moore where he performed building enclosure consulting, construction litigation support, and building restoration. Kevin received both his Bachelors and Masters degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
