Dear Members:
The next meeting of the SEAoT San Antonio Chapter will be held on Tuesday, October 20st, 2026. We will be hosting our meeting at Old San Francisco Steak House.
Topic: Simpson Strong‑Tie: Overview of Lateral System Solutions Using Prefabricated Shear Walls and Strong‑Rod Systems in Wood Construction
Summary:
This course provides an overview of lateral force–resisting solutions available for wood‑framed construction, with a focus on Simpson Strong‑Tie prefabricated shear walls and Strong‑Rod™ systems. Participants will examine the fundamental concepts of lateral loads, common design challenges, and engineered solutions that enhance structural performance and constructability.
The presentation explores where lateral load path issues frequently arise, how to identify critical design areas early, and how prefabricated shear walls and rod systems can be effectively integrated to achieve efficient, and reliable lateral systems. Attendees will receive an in‑depth understanding of Strong‑Wall® shear wall solutions and a high‑level overview of Strong‑Rod™ continuous rod systems.
