Dear Members:

The next meeting of the SEAoT San Antonio Chapter will be held on Tuesday, August 18th, 2026.  We will be hosting our meeting at Old San Francisco Steak House.

Topic: "I Thought Someone Else Was Handling It" - Communication, Coordination, and Common Pitfalls in Special Inspections

Summary:

This topic ties together many of the common challenges encountered on projects, including determination letters, contractor no-shows, scheduling and communication failures, rebar inspections, understanding what requires Special Inspections, and the distinction between Special Inspections and Structural Observations.

Based in Terracon's San Antonio office, Nathan oversees quality control operations, manages field personnel, and leads training and development efforts for engineering technicians and inspectors.

Throughout his career, Nathan has performed and supervised a wide range of field and laboratory testing services, including foundation monitoring, reinforced concrete inspections, post-tensioning verification, structural steel inspections, earthwork and compaction testing, fireproofing and firestop inspections, masonry and wood framing observations, asphalt testing, and plant/manufacturing inspections. His expertise spans both commercial and public-sector projects, where he ensures compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards.

In addition to extensive field experience, Nathan is proficient in laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt materials.
