Topic:
Tensile Membrane Structure Design in RFEM 6
Presenter:
Amy Heilig, P.E., CEO (USA Office) Dlubal Software Inc.
Tensile structures including fabric membranes and cable elements require a highly nonlinear analysis program to determine the optimal shape based on applied prestress forces. RFEM 6 automatically calculates this shape finding an equilibrium between the cable axial force or the membrane stress considering the existing boundary conditions. The resulting shape can then be used as the initial state for further static calculations including the design of the supporting structure.
Amy Heilig, PE is the CEO of Dlubal Software, Inc. located in Philadelphia, PA. Amy attended Colorado State University for her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering then continued her education at the University of Texas at Austin to earn her master’s degree in Structural Engineering. After several years spent in the design industry for both bridges and industrial structures in Colorado, she moved to a career specializing in structural analysis software and relocated to southern California. In 2015, she accepted a position with Dlubal Software to expand their global presence and open the first USA office in Philadelphia, PA servicing North American clients. In addition to opening the USA office, she provides sales, technical support, and continues to aid in the development of Dlubal Software programs for the American and Canadian markets.
