This session will provide a top-to-bottom overview of lateral design for wood framed structures with a focus on shear walls. Topics of discussion include lessons learned from natural disasters, load path continuity, updates to the International Building Code and shear wall design alternatives including an overview of the research done by APA on the force transfer around openings shear wall approach.
