Topic: New Provisions for Qualification and Design of Post-Installed Anchors (Adhesive and Mechanical) into Cracked and Uncracked Masonry (1.0 PDH)
Presenters: F. Keith Bohren, P.E., Simpson Strong-Tie
Abstract:
ICC-ES AC58 & AC01 are the Acceptance Criteria for Adhesive and Mechanical Anchors in Cracked and Uncracked Masonry Elements that the industry utilize for testing and qualification. These criteria were originally created in the 1990’s and utilized an allowable stress design methodology. We will look at how the criteria have changed to encompass Ultimate Strength design (very similar to anchors in concrete) and how they will affect adhesive and mechanical anchor designs moving forward. This presentation will also cover design tools to assist with these new design provisions.
