Topic: Concrete Sensors: Their practical uses to Monitor Temperature and Track Maturity (1.0 PDH)
Presenters: Siobhán Sawyer, VP Field Technical Services and Trey Triplett, Field Technical Sales Specialist
Abstract:
The use of sensors in concrete to measure and monitor its physical characteristics is becoming more widespread in construction. The real time data collected can improve the quality and safety of structures and give us the ability to act quickly to mitigate potential quality issues and progress with construction schedules. Temperature monitoring can be used in two distinct applications: Thermal Monitoring of mass concrete and Strength Tracking for concrete curing decision making. Both applications, along with recent project examples will be discussed in this presentation.
Bios:
Siobhán Sawyer has a B.ENG (Civil Engineering) from Queens University Belfast, Ireland. Her career has spanned 30+ years in the US with the first 9 being in design structural engineering in Central Florida. Her wide range of experience in design of concrete, steel, and masonry along with a love for field work led her to the embark on a career in Field Technical Sales roles with a specialty in post installed anchors. During the last 3 years at DEWALT, as she led the field technical team, she has had the opportunity to be part of a cross functional team to test and launch Concrete Sensors as part of the Construction Technology offering at DEWALT.
Trey Triplett holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Mississippi State University. Throughout his professional career, Trey has accumulated a wealth of diversified experience across various domains, ranging from traffic intersection design to structural analysis of cranes, pile testing, and construction oversight. His contributions have been instrumental in the successful completion of projects totaling over a billion dollars in value. Most Recently, Trey has been an integral member of the DEWALT team who have launched the concrete sensor’s lineup where he has provided extensive training and support in the field for contractors, lab technicians, concrete producers, and engineers.
