Navigating Delegated Design Projects

Bio:

As the President and Principal Engineer of Stubbs Engineering, Inc., Michael A. Stubbs leads the design of all projects with a focus on innovation, precision, and client satisfaction. With over two decades of experience managing complex structures and overseeing both the design and construction phases, Michael brings a unique, problem-solving approach to every project. He is dedicated to meeting clients' functional and aesthetic needs while delivering cost-effective and efficient solutions.

Michael earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University in 1998. After graduation, he began his career at a New Mexico-based Structural and Civil Engineering firm. Seeking to expand his expertise, he moved to Dallas, where he served as the President of a joint venture between an engineering firm and a steel fabricator, providing both design and construction services.

After nine successful years in Dallas, Michael returned to New Mexico to establish Stubbs Engineering, Inc. Under his leadership, the firm has grown into a trusted name in the industry, known for its commitment to excellence, client-focused approach, and innovative problem-solving. Michael has been instrumental in building a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the company, ensuring that every project meets the highest standards of quality and safety.

In addition to his professional achievements, Michael is an active member of the engineering community. He regularly participates in industry panels, mentors young engineers, and contributes to the development of best practices in structural engineering. He is also passionate about integrating sustainable practices and cutting-edge technology into the firm's projects, helping to create structures that are not only efficient but also environmentally responsible.

Michael's dedication to engineering excellence has established him as a respected leader within the industry. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), a Structural Engineer (SE), and a Certified Design Build Professional (DBIA), holding professional engineering licenses in 37 states across the United States. This extensive multi-state licensing demonstrates his commitment to professional excellence and enables Stubbs Engineering to serve clients nationwide with consistent expertise and regulatory compliance.


Presentation Description:

This session will discuss strategies the Engineers of Record can employ to provide more efficient projects that utilize delegated design.  There will be an examination of the advantages of delegated design and how to maximize the benefit the project owner receives from delegated design.  We will also explain how to properly define the role of the key players on a delegated design project.
