Bio:
Susan Foster is the Director of Strategic Initiatives & Komponent® at CTS. She holds an MBA from UMUC along with a number of technical and professional certifications. She is a respected professional and industry expert proficient in CSA expansive cement technologies and a trusted advisor providing design, construction, project management, and technical support throughout the industry. Her breadth of experience in a wide range of construction materials, including calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) cements, shrinkage-compensating concrete, waterproofing, high-performance resins and building envelope assemblies has contributed to her success for over 30 years in the construction industry.
Presentation Description:
This course reviews how shrinkage-compensating concrete helps meet today’s stringent design life requirements and sustainability initiatives without sacrificing durability and constructability. Attendees will learn how shrinkage-compensating concrete optimizes sustainable design by lowering the carbon footprint and optimizing life cycle performance. We’ll review Type K shrinkage-compensating concrete’s durability and how its improved structural performance influences design versatility and ease of constructability. Information related to reducing overall materials consumed and improved project efficiencies will be discussed as well as a review of optimized value potential. Participants will learn how shrinkage-compensating concrete provides an engineered solution that meets today’s demanding construction challenges, durability requirements, and sustainable design initiatives delivering optimum cost value.
