Honorary Member Award

The Honorary Member Award is the highest recognition bestowed by the Structural Engineers Association of Texas (SEAoT). This award honors individuals whose long-term service, leadership, and professional contributions have significantly advanced the mission of SEAoT and the structural engineering profession. Recipient of this award will be announced at the 2027 SEAoT Conference in San Antonio.

PLEASE NOTE: We will be presenting one (1) award at the 2027 Conference.

Eligibility

At the time of nomination, the candidate must have at least 20 years of active SEAoT membership. Required for consideration.

Evaluation Criteria

Nominees are evaluated using a weighted set of criteria. The categories below reflect SEAoT’s core values of service, engagement, and professional excellence. Reviewers will consider the relative significance, duration, consistency, and impact of the nominee’s contributions in each area.

1. SEAoT State Conference Attendance

   Attendance at SEAoT State Conferences. Greater consideration will be given to consistent, long-term participation.
   
   

2. SEAoT State Conference Speaker

   Service as a speaker at one or more SEAoT State Conferences.
   
   

3. Chapter Leadership Roles

   Involvement in SEAoT local chapter leadership.
   
   

4. Community Outreach & Public Engagement

   Participation in activities that promote structural engineering, support STEM education, or improve the community in general. Leadership or long-term involvement in outreach efforts is given increased weight.
   
   

5. State Leadership Roles

   Involvement in SEAoT state leadership, with particular recognition for those who have served as board members or officers.
   
   

6. Contributions to State/National Initiatives

   Service at the state or national level, such as:

   • Committee participation
   • Submitting articles to the SEAoT Journal or STRUCTURE Magazine
   • Advocacy related to codes, standards, or legislative matters

   Greater weight is given to substantial, long-term, or high-impact involvement.
   
   

7. Additional Professional Contributions

   Notable achievements that bring distinction to SEAoT or advance the structural engineering profession, such as:

   • Contributions to standards development
   • Significant publications, presentations, research, or innovation

   These contributions help demonstrate the nominee’s broad impact on SEAoT and the structural engineering profession.
